MT. WASHINGTON Contemporary

Years after we remodeled his bachelor bungalow, our client was looking to put down roots in northeast Los Angeles and wanted us to guide the renovation of his new hilltop digs.  A bit of a fixer upper, the home felt drab and stale despite its promising bones and central location.

We worked closely with our client to infuse the home with his personality, creating a layered and dynamic backdrop that balances color, materiality, and evocative geometry with a minimalistic serenity to match the mountain views. The kitchen and primary bathroom saw the most construction where we tackled wonky layouts, maximized tight square footage, and made every surface aesthetically hardworking and functionally hardwearing.

While the kitchen - crisp but a bit unruly - serves the same sort of refreshing satisfaction brought by biting into a ripe plum on a summer’s day, the bathroom possesses the quiet luxury of unclasping a diamond tennis necklace before showering. A job well done in our book.
